We Are One Dance Conference
The We Are One Dance Conference is an interdisciplinary dance, education, and leadership conference that brings together artists, educators, students, choreographers, and cultural leaders to celebrate the transformative power of movement. Hosted by the Maliek Community Arts Foundation (MCAF), the conference serves as a dynamic space for professional development, artistic exploration, cultural exchange, and community building. Returning for its second annual convening, We Are One continues its mission of connecting diverse voices through master classes, panel discussions, networking opportunities, performances, and meaningful conversations that inspire collaboration and excellence across the performing arts.
This Year's Theme: Roots & Rhythm: Honoring the Past, Shaping the Future. As dance continues to evolve across generations and cultures, we recognize that innovation is strongest when it is grounded in history. This year's conference explores how artists preserve cultural traditions while creating new pathways for future generations. Through movement, scholarship, storytelling, and shared experiences, We Are One honors the pioneers who paved the way, celebrates the richness of diverse dance communities, and empowers today's artists and educators to become the next generation of cultural leaders. Together, we affirm that our greatest strength lies not only in our individual voices, but in our collective commitment to learning, creating, and moving forward as one.

We Are One is more than a dance conference, it is a celebration of unity, culture, education, and artistic excellence. Hosted by the Maliek Community Arts Foundation (MCAF), We Are One brings together dancers, educators, students, choreographers, and movement practitioners from diverse backgrounds to learn, collaborate, and inspire one another through the universal language of dance. Rooted in the belief that movement has the power to build community and create meaningful change, the conference offers an inclusive environment where participants can develop their craft, exchange ideas, honor the rich histories of dance, and form lasting connections. More than a weekend of classes, We Are One is a space where creativity, leadership, and culture intersect, reminding us that although our journeys, styles, and stories may be different, we are stronger when we learn, move, and grow together as one community.
The conference is open to dancers, educators, students, choreographers, studio owners, performing artists, and anyone interested in dance and arts education. All experience levels are welcome unless otherwise noted for specific classes.
Registration is available online through our website.
Yes, if space is available. We encourage early registration because workshops may sell out.
Conference registrations are non-refundable. Tickets may be transferred to another participant with advance notice.
Yes. Please contact us before the conference to update the registration
Not necessarily. Some classes are beginner-friendly while others are intermediate or advanced. Class levels will be listed in the schedule.
Yes. Single workshop registrations are available.
Yes. The conference includes educational panels featuring artists, educators, and industry professionals.
Comfortable dance attire and appropriate footwear for movement.
Lunch is included for VIP attendees. Food options will be available for purchase or nearby for other attendees.
Yes. Photography and videography will occur throughout the conference. Registration grants permission for MCAF to use event photos and videos for promotional purposes
Yes. Volunteer opportunities are available before and during the conference. Applications can be completed through our website.
A limited number of scholarships may be available. Please check the website for application details.
